What is The Venice Project™?
The Venice Project™ is a new venture that combines the best elements of the TV experience with the most powerful internet technologies, in a way that will redefine the way people think about television. It is not a file-sharing application or a video download service.

Techcrunch’s Michael Arrington writes:

Most of the hype around it stems from the fact that the company was started by Kazaa and Skype founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis. Otherwise, this would likely have been lost in a sea of new IPTV startups we’re seeing almost daily. But the fact that the founders are so high profile gives The Venice Project an edge besides press hype: it may also give them the status they need to land crucial content deals with the TV networks.

CenterNetworks blog has a very nice beta tester review of The Venice Project with screenshots for all of you who love the “show-me-a-proof” concept (well, my concept of course!)

I’ll be posting update if I get approved by them!

Happy Holidays!

It’s time for greetings galore!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

Katie Fehrenbacher writes “Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt tells Reuters one day your phone could be free, subsidized by the growth of mobile advertising. That’s a pretty convenient suggestion for the ad giant to make.”

My take: Well as a person who loves free-and-useful service… I think Eric Schmidt and the Google guys are up to something BIG here. BIG in terms of benefits it give to regular phone users. BIG in terms of advertising revenues and sales for both Google and it’s advertisers. Lastly, Google would be facing BIG oppositions from telco unless a favorable offer from the Google will keep telcos say YES.

As a Filipino techno-geek, I think this is great. We love freebies! I love freebies! I think all pinoys will love this if it will push through… I’m counting … hmmm 5 (or less) years from now? Who knows? Google had been surprising us these past few years!
