Send SMS message for free using GoogleTalk

Yep! I’m not kidding. A pinoy has blogged about it. You can now send SMS messageto Globe, Smart and Sun mobile phones using GoogleTalk. This was made possible by the Chikka/GoogleTalk partnership (…leading to Instant Messaging Federation I guess). To send to a mobile phone, add a new contact to your GoogleTalk client using the format 639xxxxxxxxx@chikkatalk.com. You can also use meebo.com to access your GoogleTalk account without installing the client software. Isn’t that great or what? Enjoy!

Ask Google.com the keyword “free sms”. But then again, I don’t think there is one available for free. But you can get a cheap one if not free.

Yes, Once again, the misconception, Google SMS is in the US only. – So you don’t get that feature worldwide
