How Much You Are Worth?

How Much You Are Worth?

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up.

He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. e then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still, the hands were up in the air.

"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?"? And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe, crumpled and dirty.

"Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.

"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But …..no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value in the eyes of those who love you.

You are special – Don't ever forget it!
** This is a forwarded e-mail.

Yep! I’m not kidding. A pinoy has blogged about it. You can now send SMS messageto Globe, Smart and Sun mobile phones using GoogleTalk. This was made possible by the  Chikka/GoogleTalk partnership (…leading to Instant Messaging Federation I guess). To send to a mobile phone, add a new contact to your GoogleTalk client using the format 639xxxxxxxxx@chikkatalk.com. You can also use meebo.com to access your GoogleTalk account without installing the client software. Isn’t that great or what? Enjoy!

Google has done it again! Google Earth now offers high resolution maps where you can navigate (pan, zoom in/out etc). Try it for yourself and get amazed :)

FYI – while browsing the satellite image for Legazpi City I can clearly see the roof of our house!! Isn’t that amazing?!

I've been using Linux since 1999. Yeah, it's been that long but I still consider myself a newbie. My first Linux distro was Slackware (using diskette installation hehehe). Sir Derick Natividad convinced me to try it out. When I was doing my senior project, I bought an original copy of SuSE Linux 6.3 (because I thought I was rich! HAHA). The distro was quite good actually. After a year, I found Mandrake, fell in love with it and used it for more than 2 years. Then I missed Slackware so I decided to try it out one more time! Got the Slackware 10.0 & 10.1 of their release. It was the official Linux distro for my good old Toshiba Tecra 8100. Now the lappy is not working (mobo problem anyone wants to buy a laptop with bad mobo??? hehe). November last year, I decided to try out CentOS as a desktop. I installed it on my new lappy (ASUS A3e 1.7Ghz 256MB). It was quite good but I had to install XFCE because it's more lighter and faster then Gnome.

So where is ubuntu? It was only last week that I decided to install xubuntu Linux and make it the "official Linux" operating system for my laptop. So far I am completely satisfied with it! It took me almost 2 years before I convinced myself to use Ubuntu (based) system! Don't get me wrong. I got two (2) Ubuntu "ship-it" CD packages. I gave of the CD's to my friends. I did try booting the Live-CD but maybe because I was so much in love with Slackware, I didn't mind Ubuntu at all :) I still love Slackware though. So far soo good for xubuntu! So is there such a thing called "the greatest Linux distro". My answer is YES! There are lots of them :) . That is the good thing about open source. You have a lot of choices and most of them are for FREE! Hell yeah!

Really really nice interface! http://www.hackerdegree.com/

"Whether you want to build your own forum, publish the messages from a mailing list on your Website, or write your own CMS: there will be a moment that you’ll want to store hierarchical data in a database. And, unless you’re using a XML-like database, tables aren’t hierarchical; they’re just a flat list. You’ll have to find a way to translate the hierarchy in a flat file." – Gijs Van Tulder, April 30, 2004, SitePoint.com

Really helps a lot!
